Fir is a tree that grows in high mountain areas, from 800 to 1600 meters above sea level, and grows over 50m in height. With higher altitude, this species gains in strength and the so-called. charged. Spruce is a monoecious species. It blooms in the spring, from April to June, depending on the altitude. The area of ​​the fir extends over southern and western Europe. To the west to northern Spain, to the east to eastern Romania, to the north to Poland and to the south to Sicily. It grows in the areas above the forest beech, i.e. below the mountain beech. This species is widespread in the former Yugoslavia.
